Authorities in Portage Co. have identified the names of those involved in a multivehicle accident in the Town of Alban over the weekend. A two-vehicle crash between an automobile and a motorcycle occurred on State Highway 49 East of State Highway 66 in the Town of Alban on Saturday afternoon. The driver of the Buick sedan, 29-year-old Billie Jo McSherry of Tigerton, was traveling eastbound on HWY 49 when she crossed the centerline on a curve, striking the motorcycle head-on. The operator of the motorcycle, 48-year-old Robert Korhonen of Antigo was thrown from the vehicle during the collision and killed at the scene. His passenger, 25-year-old Stacey Zarda of Antigo was also thrown from the motorcycle and later transported to Aspirus Hospital with critical injuries. McSherry and her nine-year-old passenger were transported to St. Michael’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. McSherry was released from the hospital and taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies on initial charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. More charges are expected. She is expected to make her initial appearance in Portage Co. Circuit Court today. The crash remains under investigation.
