A Pine River woman will be sentenced in late April following her conviction in Waushara County Court on two felony counts of filing fraudulent income tax returns. 39 year old Carrie Acker was originally charged in December of 2016 with four felony counts, but two were dropped in the plea agreement. The criminal complaint says Acker inflated her withholding on her income tax returns for the years 2010 through 2013 in order to receive a larger tax refund. The case was prosecuted by the state Attorney General’s office after an investigation by the Department of Revenue. Acker will be sentenced April 27th.
