Voters in the Amherst School District will head to the polls today, to say yes or no for the school board to authorize a continuation of exceeding the state revenue limit by $350,000 each year for another five years. The district first approved taxing above the revenue limit in 2001, and voters continued it with yes votes in 2006 and 2011. District officials say there will be no dollar-amount change to property taxes with a yes vote. The cost will remain at $90 on a $100,000 property. The polls are open until 8 tonight, and don’t forget, a photo ID is now required to cast a ballot.
