Police in Weyauwega had to deal with another wrong-way driver on U.S. Highway 10 over the weekend, a second wrong-way driver there in less than two weeks. Police there say they were dealing with a traffic stop in the westbound lanes of Hiway 10 near Evanswood Road just before 3:30 Saturday morning, when a car screamed by heading east in the westbound lanes. A short pursuit ensued, with speeds hitting 103 miles per hour before the vehicle was stopped near Railroad Grade Road, just west of Fremont. The man was arrested on charges of fleeing, endangering safety by reckless driving, possession of methamphetamine, illegal possession of prescription drugs, operating the wrong way on a divided highway, drunk driving, having an open intoxicant in a vehicle, and operating without insurance. He is expected to make an initial appearance in Waupaca County Court this afternoon. Weyauwega Police arrested 34 year old Sergio Martinez of Shiocton for driving the wrong way on Highway 10 August 30th, and causing a crash that severely injured an Oshkosh man. Martinez was charged with multiple felonies and paid a 15-hundred dollar cash bond to get out of jail. Informed sources tell WDUX that Martinez is not a legal resident of the United States, and was last seen in Texas.
