A man is in custody after driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 10 early this morning. The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office says they were alerted to the driver in a stolen vehicle going west in the eastbound lanes near Sunset Curve just before 2:30 a.m. The driver passed a Waupaca City Police officer a short time later, failing to stop. The driver made a turn-around at County Highway “Q”, proceeding then to east in the westbound lanes. Authorities used stop sticks to get the car stopped a short time later. During the pursuit, the stolen vehicle struck a county squad car, causing minor damage. The man was booked into jail on charges of eluding, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, recklessly endangering safety, and hit and run. The man’s car was reported stolen out of Oshkosh.
