A Portage County woman is free on a 10-thousand dollar signature bond following an arson charge in Portage County Court Monday. 53 year old Barbara Maslowski-Day of Custer is alleged to have intentionally set fire to a garage attached to her and her husband’s home in the Town of Stockton in May of 2011. Authorities allege she used a flammable liquid to start the fire, that did extensive damage, in an attempt to gain insurance money. The complaint says a foreclosure on the property was pending at the time. If convicted of the arson of a building charge, Maslowski-Day could face up to 40 years in prison. She is due back in court May 30th.
