A Birnamwood teenager was killed late Thursday afternoon while trying to remove a deer from the roadway. According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, the 16 year old boy struck the deer while driving on County Highway “N” around 5:15. The boy got out of his vehicle and was attempting to drag the deer off the roadway when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle driven by a 45 year old Bowler man. The Bowler man was giving the boy CPR when authorities arrived on the scene. Authorities say the Bowler told them he didn’t see the boy because of the bright headlights on the boy’s car, which was stopped in the lane of travel. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Names of those involved have not been released, as the accident remains under investigation.
