With the summer boating season fast approaching, the Towns of Farmington and Dayton are looking at ways to make the Chain ‘O Lakes a safer place for all who want to use it. The two town boards held a joint meeting this morning, Pat Meighan of the Harbor Bar leading the discussion. His number one concern is the safety of those who ride his Lady of the Lakes cruise, especially at the Indian Crossing Casino channel……:25 ” ”
Meighan says the problem usually occurs on the weekends, when the lakes are congested with boats, wave-runners, kayaks, and paddle boards. Brian Stelzner with the sheriff’s department’s water patrol had an idea to help boats going through the channel….:13 ” ” Increased signage, more patrol officers, or the passing of town ordinances were other ideas brought up. No decisions were made by the town boards this morning, but a future meeting is being planned.
