CAB FARE TO GO UP IN WAUPACA

Riders of Waupaca’s shared-ride taxi service will be paying a bit more to get across town.  The city council Tuesday night approved a 25-cent across-the-board fare increase, to make up for a 7-plus percentage decrease in state and federal funding of the program.  The approved proposal also calls for an increase to 5-dollars for all riders who use the service after 10 pm.   Dave Lowe of Brown Cab says their goal is to keep the fees reasonable.             The new fares go into effect September 1st.

The council also approved a contract with Cedar Corporation of Green Bay for a design plan for a Lake Street reconstruction project, slated to begin in 2017.  The contract is not to exceed 14,730 dollars.    And the council approved an 11,500-dollar contract for a Main Street Traffic Analysis and Movement Count.  That is part of the overall downtown masterplan.  The traffic counts are being done in August.
