Authorities in Calumet County continue to investigate after a car was seen plunging into Lake Winnebago Thursday night. The sheriff’s office says a witness reported seeing the vehicle enter the lake near High Cliff State Park, just southeast of Appleton, around 11 pm. When deputies arrived, the entire car was under water, and officers went in searching for victims. The county’s dive team then searched the water for several hours, finding no one in the water. The sheriff’s office now says they believe the driver left the scene before authorities arrived.
