A Waupaca man has been charged with attempted first degree homicide in a shooting incident on the city’s northeast side Monday night. 27-year-old Jonathan Cardoso also faces counts of felon in possesion of a firearm, fleeng an officer, and possession of marijuana. The complaint alleges Cardoso shot his girlfriend just before 10:45 Monday evening, then fled from the scene in his vehicle. He was arrested after a short car chase and police standoff, according to the complaint. He allegedly told police he had a grenade, and said police would have to kill him. The woman was found with a gunshot wound, and taken to ThedaCare–Waupaca Hospital, then airlifted to ThedaCare Hospital in Neenah in critical condition. Cardoso is expected in Waupaca County Court on Wednesday.
