Sentencing has been set for September 26th for a former Waupaca woman convicted of vehicular homicide. 45 year old Kristin K. Carlson, now of Fond du Lac, entered a no contest plea in Waupaca County Court this morning to homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. Carlson was the driver of a car the struck and killed 81 year old Fred Lick in the Town of Dayton in July of 2013. Carlson was traveling east on County Hiway “Q” around 4 in the afternoon and hit Lick, who was crossing the road, returning from his mailbox. The criminal complaint alleges Carlson’s car was traveling between 59 and 65 miles per hour in the 35 mile per hour zone. It also alleges she received a text message on her phone at 4:05, and called 9-1-1 just 23 seconds after reading the text. She faces up to 10 years in prison and 25-thousand dollars in fines when sentenced in September. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered by Judge Ray Huber.
