The suspect in a Waupaca County arson case is now in custody in Minnesota. Police in St. Paul arrested 21 year old Fernando A. Castillo Friday after he was interviewed by a Waupaca County sheriff’s deputy, and a state fire marshal. Castillo has been charged with first degree recklessly endangering safety, arson of a building, arson of personal property, and criminal damage to property, in connection to a fire in the Town of Lebanon that destroyed a garage, all it’s contents, and two cars that were parked near the structure. Detective Captain Don Conat says Castillo had a 3-year dating relationship with a woman living at the residence on Worm Road where the fire was set. Conat says authorities are still looking for a can of black spray paint that they believe Castillo used to paint threats onto the garage doors. If you find that spray can, Conat asks that you don’t handle it, but call the sheriff’s department. If convicted of the arson-related charges, Castillo faces over 55 years in prison.
