A Waupaca man is being held in the Waupaca County jail on a 5000 dollar cash bond for allegedly selling heroin. 34 year old Steven J. Cooper faces a count of delivery of heroin as a repeat offender, within 1000 feet of a park. Cooper also faces counts of resisting and failure to comply. The drug complaint alleges Cooper sold 4 bindles of heroin to a police confidential informant this past June in the South Park parking lot. The resisting and failure to comply charges stem from his arrest last week in Waupaca, where he allegedly lied to police over the phone about his whereabouts. Police a short time later found him hiding in the attic of his residence, according to the complaint. Because of the repeater provision, and sale of drugs near a park provision, Cooper faces up to 21 years in prison if convicted. He is due back in court next Tuesday.
