A Wisconsin Rapids man will serve time in prison following sentencing in Waupaca County Court on a felony drunk driving conviction. 59 year old Michael D. Dayton entered no contest pleas to a count of 7th offense operating while intoxicated, and two counts of bail jumping, with several other charges dismissed, but read in for sentencing. Dayton was stopped for drunk driving on Waupaca’s west side in mid-February. Following that arrest, he failed the soberlink monitoring program on multiple occasions, leading to the bail jumping counts. He was sentenced this week to three years in prison and three years extended supervision on the drunk driving conviction. On the two bail jumping convictions, Dayton was placed on probation for two years, to begin following his extended supervision. He was also ordered to install an ignition interlock device for three years, and lost his driving privileges for three years.
