Waupaca Co. Sheriff’s officials have identified the Farmington teen who died after being accidentally shot by a 17-year-old friend. It happened before 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Town of Farmington. According to Waupaca Co. Sheriff Brad Hardel, 15-year-old Jacob Peglow of Waupaca, was shot in the shoulder and chest area with a .22 caliber firearm. People at the scene helped the teen until paramedics arrived, but he didn’t survive. Investigators say the teens were playing with the gun, which they did not think was loaded. Sheriff’s officials don’t anticipate any charges will be filed, calling it a “tragic accident.” Counseling services are being offered to the families and responding officers. Counseling services are also being sought for friends of the victim at his school. Sheriff Hardel calls it “Just an unfortunate accident,” and warns everyone that all guns should be treated as if they’re loaded.
