The Waupaca Area Fire Department was called out Tuesday afternoon to a Waupaca pallet company for a bulldozer on fire. Assistant Fire Chief Chuck Whitman says the call to MPD Pallet on Industrial Drive came in just after 3 o’clock, and when firefighters got to the scene, they found the Volvo end loader fully engulfed in flames. The fire had also spread into the wood chip pile where the operator was working. Whitman says the fire on the end loader involved some diesel fuel and hydraulic oil, so they used foam to put out that fire. Once that was out they used water to douse the flames in the wood pile. Crews were on the scene for about an hour and a half. Damage to the loader and the loss of wood chips was estimated at about 20-thousand dollars.
