Waupaca’s First National Bank is soon to become part of Bank First National. That acquisition is being announced today by Bank First National’s headquarters in Manitowoc. In a news release, Bank First National says each banks’ board of directors have unanimously approved the merger agreement. The transaction is expected to close later this year, and after its complete, all Waupaca offices will open as Bank First branches. Bank First is a nationally-chartered community bank that currently has 12 branches in Wisconsin. It was founded as the Bank of Manitowoc in 1894. First National dates back to 1885 when it began as the National Bank of Waupaca.
