A Fond du Lac woman is facing charges for allegedly embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars that was meant for churches. 60 year old Donna M. LaRue was charged this week in Sheboygan County with theft in a business setting over 100-thousand dollars. LaRue served as bookkeeper for the Society of St. Vincent DePaul. The complaint alleges she embezzled just over 550-thousand dollars from January 2011 through April 2018, by forging signatures of church officials in writing out checks to herself, and making false entries into the bookkeeping program. Authorities say 201 checks were forged or written without permission, many for between 3000 and 4000 dollars, with some written to her landlord to pay rent. If convicted, LaRue faces up to 12 years in prison.
