A New London man is being held on a 100-thousand dollar cash bond following multiple felony charges in Waupaca County Circuit Court. 28 year old Kurtis W. Heckel faces counts of manufacture pyschodlelic mushroom, possessions of mushrooms with intent to deliver, possession of a short-barrelled shotgun, possession of explosives for an unlawful purpose, possession of improvised explosives, and maintaining a drug trafficking place, along with a misdemeanor count of marijuana possession. The criminal complaint says New London police and officers from the state Division of Criminal Investigations executed a search warrant at Heckel’s Northridge Drive residence Tuesday. The complaint says the search allegedly turned up an indoor mushroom growing operation, with 351 mushrooms, along with baggies of marijuana, a shotgun and 17 other firearms, two swords, and a machete. If convicted, Heckel faces up to 50 years behind bars. He is due back in court next Tuesday.
