Two people are in custody and charges are expected against a 3rd person following a heroin overdose in Weyauwega Friday afternoon. Police Chief Gerald Poltrock says two women, ages 21 and 23 along with a 24 year-old man, had injected heroin at a residence on Pine Street. The 23 year-old woman’s condition rapidly deteriorated and the other two got her to a vehicle in an attempt to take her to the hospital. When the woman stopped breathing, they called 9-1-1. She was successfully resuscitated by ambulance personnel, then later arrested. She is being referred for charges of child neglect, bail jumping, recklessly endangering safety, possession of heroin, and carrying a concealed weapon.
The 24 year-old man is also in custody, with charges pending of possession of a schedule 2 narcotic, maintaining a drug trafficking place, and delivery of heroin. Both are being held on $10,000 cash bond. The other woman is also being referred on charges of possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug trafficking place as a party to a crime. A two month-old child at the scene was taken into protective custody. Chief Poltrock says more arrests are anticipated.
