High school basketball in Wisconsin may look drastically different in a couple of years. The WIAA has approved the use of a a 35-second shot clock in both boys and girls basketball, beginning in the 2019-2020 season. The WIAA has also approved boys hockey going to a 2-division state tournament series. That will be on a 2-year trial basis beginning with the 2020 state tournament. The smallest 32 programs in the state, in terms of enrollment, will be assigned to Division 2.
