A Waupaca County hiway worker suffered minor injuries in a workzone crash Thursday morning. According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, a county hiway truck with a crash cushion was stopped on Hiway 10 in the left lane about a mile west of Fremont where road work was being done. A car was traveling westbound in the left lane, and attempted to merge into the right lane, but didn’t make it, and struck the crash cushion truck. Authorities say the work zone was posted east of the work zone, warning motorists of the work ahead. The car ended up in the north ditch where it started smoking. The driver of the county truck was injured, and taken by ambulance to ThedaCare–Waupaca hospital, where he was later released. The driver of the car was not hurt. Citations against the driver are pending as the crash is being investigated.
