A Montello woman is being held in the Marquette County jail on 250-thousand dollars cash bond following a fatal fire earlier this month. 42 year old Frances E. Rittman faces a first degree intentional homicide charge, plus two counts of arson. Rittman is alleged to have intentionally started a house fire in Montello April 20th that killed 43 year old Daniel Gilmartin while he slept. The complaint says Rittmann admitted to detectives that she intended for the fire to kill both Gilmartin and herself, but after she set the fire she changed her mind about killing herself, and walked to a local store. The complaint alleges she never called for help for Gilmartin. If convicted, Rittmann faces life in prison. She is due back in court June 19th.
