A Waupaca teenager is being held on a 100-thousand dollar cash bond after being charged in the death of another Waupaca teenager in July. 18 year old Austin Hovarter faces a 1st degree reckless homicide charge in Waupaca County Circuit Court, having made his initial appearance Friday afternoon. Hovarter is alleged to have fired a 22-caliber revolver that struck 16 year old Jacob Peglow in the shoulder while the two were playing with guns at a Town of Farmington residence. Peglow died from the wound. The complaint says Hovarter had played with the revolver on previous occasions, at one time dry-firing it three times into a mattress. If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for September 26th.
