A Waupaca teenager has been convicted of reckless homicide in Waupaca County Circuit Court. 18 year old Austin Hovarter entered a no contest plea to first degree reckless homicide Wednesday, in the shooting death of 15 year old Jacob Peglow this past July in the Town of Farmington. The complaint says Hovarter and Peglow were playing with weapons in the home when Hovarter aimed a 22-caliber handgun at Peglow and pulled the trigger, striking Peglow in the upper torso. He died a short time later. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered by Judge Troy Nielson. As part of the plea agreement, the district attorney’s office agreed to seek no more than 10 years in prison at sentencing. The sentencing hearing is set for March 19th.
