Teachers in the Waupaca School District will see their health insurance premiums increase by 2.6 percent next year. That figure gained the approval of the Waupaca School Board Wednesday afternoon after much negotiation with WEA Insurance, after the company initially sought a 9 percent premium increase. The district told WEA “no” to that figure, and WEA countered at 6.8 percent. The district said “no” again, and proposed a 2.6 percent increase with adjustments to the prescription drug card, and an increase on the deductible paid by employees. A single employee’s deductible goes from 1000 dollars to 1250, while a family deductible goes from 2000 dollars to 25-hundred. Meanwhile, a decision on a cost of living wage increase for district employees was pushed back to a special meeting tomorrow (Friday).
