The Waupaca School District is one of several Wisconsin schools to be on the receiving end of funds from the JJ Watt Foundation. Watt is a defensive lineman for the Houston Texans in the NFL. He played college football for the Badgers. His foundation has donated $12,992 to the Waupaca Middle School for football uniforms, shoulder pads, and footballs.
The foundation so far has donated over $1.4 Million to sixth through 8th grade after-school athletic programs and organizations. Much of the money raised during Watt’s annual charity classic softball game at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
Other schools receiving funds include $6,600 to New London for football jerseys and $9,800 to Berlin School District for basketball and volleyball uniforms, along with the reconditioning of their football helmets.
