A Weyauwega man is being held in the Waupaca County jail following his arrest for a 9th offense operating while intoxicated. A 5000 dollar cash bond was ordered for 56 year old Mark E. Knaus, who also faces misdemeanor counts of possession of an illegally obtained prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating while revoked, and failure to install an ignition interlock device. Knaus was arrested Sunday afternoon in Weyauwega. The complaint says he allegedly admitted to crushing and snorting a friend’s oxycodone pills before driving. Police say he failed field sobriety tests. Police also allege they found drug related items during a search. Knaus has 8 prior owi convictions, with the latest in 2013. In that case he was sentenced to 3 years in prison, and was recently released. Knaus faces up to 10 years behind bars if convicted on this 9th offense. He is due back in court January 10th.
