The former coach of Waupaca High School’s Football Program is receiving a national honor next spring. John Koronkiewicz is being inducted into the National High School Athletics Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Koronkiewicz coached the Comets for over three decades, leading the team to state championships in 2006 and 2008, along with three runners-up finishes. He is tied for 15th all-time in the state with 265 wins, and a .746-winning percentage. Koronk’s induction into the National Coaches Hall of Fame will occur during the Wisconsin State Football Coaches Hall of Fame Ceremony in late March.
