A Fond du Lac County deputy district attorney will appeal a decision by state elections commission staff that, for the time being, would keep him off the ballot in Waupaca County’s spring judicial race. Dennis Krueger, a former state prosecutor in the Attorney General’s office, had his ballot status denied by the elections commission this week, when it was determined he failed to put the election date on his nominating petitions, as is required by law. Krueger says he left the date off intentionally. He says he was told by commission members to put April 4th on the petitions, but knowing that there were already two candidates on the ballot, Krueger says the actual date should be the primary election date of February 21st. So instead of putting what he thought was a wrong date on his papers, he put no date at all. He will have an appeal hearing before the election commission next week.
