The Waupaca County Board is meeting in special session on Monday, January 9th, to consider a resolution to close Lakeview Manor Nursing Home. The facility has been in operation for over 100 years, often with tax-payer support from Waupaca County residents. The resolution points to continued staffing shortages at Lakeview Manor, including difficulties in keeping key administrators on board. Last year the board authorized an incentive package for employees for a 6-month period, in an attempt to attract new, qualified employees. The resolution says that had little success. If the board were to pass the resolution Monday, a notice of intent to relocate residents of Lakeview would be filed with the state Department of Health Services, with the nursing home closing within the statutory time frames.
