Two men are in custody following an explosion near Marion that killed an Illinois man Sunday night. According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, the 44 year old man died after being hit by shrapnel from a homemade explosive device around 9 pm. at a residence on County Highway “S”, just west of Marion. Authorities say the device didn’t ignite properly, and the metal tubing on the device exploded. Charges of homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon are being recommended against a 38 year old New London man and a 43 year old Clintonville man. The victim of the explosion has not yet been publicly identified.
