New London police have now released the identity of the man killed in an officer-involved shooting Friday. 31 year old Kole Knight of Neenah was shot by officers near the intersection of Algoma and Wallace Streets on the city’s southeast side. Authorities say Knight had a warrant out for his arrest, and two officers on patrol confronted him, and Knight pulled out a gun. The state Justice Department says the weapon was a plastic toy look-alike gun. Knight’s girlfriend told investigators that Knight was suicidal, and knew that if he showed a weapon, officers would shoot him. The names of the officers involved have not yet been released. The Justice Department is handling the investigation.
