A Manawa man was arrested Sunday for stealing fishing-related equipment from a Town of Little Wolf property. According to the Waupaca County Sheriff”s Office, the 19 year old man was questioned by a deputy around 10:45 Sunday morning in Shambeau Park. A trolling motor with torn cables, a battery, and boat battery box were found in the back of the truck. The Manawa man told deputies he was going fishing, but he had no fishing poles in the truck. Officers verified at that time that the trolling motor had not been reported stolen, so they let the man go. About 4 hours later, a resident of County Hiway “N” in the Town of Little Wolf reported to the Sheriff’s Office that his trolling motor, boat battery, and battery box were stolen of his boat along the Manawa mill pond. Deputies were able to locate the 19 year old Manawa man, who allegedly admitted to taking the items while he was canoeing on the mill pond. The case has been referred to the district attorney’s office for charges.
