A Shiocton man has now been criminally charged in a wrong-way injury accident near Weyauwega last Friday night. 34 year old Sergio C. Martinez faces felony counts of injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and knowingly operate without a valid license causing great bodily harm. The complaint alleges Martinez was intoxicated when he drove his vehicle eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 10, colliding head on with a car driven by 23 year old Taylor M. Manuel of Oshkosh. Manuel remains in a coma at a Neenah hospital, according to the complaint. Martinez was injured and treated at ThedaCare– Waupaca Hospital. The complaint alleges a preliminary breath test showed Martinez had a .125 blood-alcohol concentration. A blood draw was performed at the hospital. Those result are not yet available. If convicted, Martinez could face up to 16 years in prison. He is free after posting a 15-hundred dollar cash bond. His next court appearance date has not yet been set.
