A Deer Creek woman will serve 7 years in prison for an arson that killed her brother. 28 year old Dana L. Nachtrab had pleaded no contest to the charge in Outagamie County Circuit Court, as well as to a charge of homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon. The complaint says in March of last year Nachtab started a fire in the bedroom of the home she shared with several other family members after an argument. The complaint says she was under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamine at the time. When Nachtrab and her husband failed to put the fire out, it spread throughout the home, trapping Nachtrab’s developmentally disabled brother in another room. He died of carbon monoxide poisoning and severe burns. The home was a total loss. Along with the 7 years in prison, Nachtrab will serve 5 years extended supervision following her release.
