Names have now been released from two weekend fatal accidents in Waupaca County. According to the sheriff’s office, 49 year old Jacqueline Johnson of Waupaca was killed early Sunday morning while walking along Highway 10 near the Waupaca airport. Authorities say Johnson was hit by a passing motorist around 2 a.m. as she walked along the south shoulder of the roadway. Patrol Captain Todd Rasmussen says vehicle parts were found near the scene, but it is not known yet if they are from the striking vehicle. Otherwise, at this point in the investigation, there are no suspects.
The other fatal crash was east of Manawa early Sunday evening. The Sheriff’s Office says 25 year old Cory Guyette of Bear Creek died when the pick-up he was in failed to negotiate the curve on County Highway “T” at Nicolai Road in the Town of Lebanon just before 6 p.m. The truck rolled into the ditch, and Guyette was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, 24 year old Cord Guyette of Bear Creek was extricated from the vehicle, and flown by ThedaStar to ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah.
