Two new drunk-driving related felony cases have been filed in Waupaca County Circuit Court this week. 39 year old Brett J. Moericke of Ogdensburg is charged with 4th-offense operating while intoxicated, along with a count of operating while revoked. The complaint says Moericke failed to stop for the stop sign on Symco Road at the intersection with State Highway 22 in the Town of Union Saturday night, and smashed into a sheriff’s department squad car. Neither driver was injured. The complaint alleges Moericke’s blood-alcohol concentration was .196 percent. It also alleges he told the officer he had 10 beers. Moericke has three prior OWI convictions, dating back to 2000. He faces up to 6 years in prison if convicted on the latest charge. Moericke was released on a 2000 dollar signature bond, paired with adherence to the soberlink monitoring system. He is due back in court December 11th.
Meanwhile, 22 year old Tyler Vanlaanen of Green Bay will make his initial appearance in court December 18th on felony and misdemeanor bail jumping, drunk driving–2nd offense, and operating while revoked. Vanlaanen was stopped in New London in late October, allegedly driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .212 percent. The bail jumping counts stem from bond conditions on drug cases in Brown County.
