A New London man is being held on 100-thousand dollars cash bond following a homicide charge in Waupaca County Circuit Court. 36 year old Matthew J. Mead faces a count of first degree reckless homicide, as a party to a crime, along with felony counts of possession of narcotic drugs and bail jumping, all as a repeat offender. Mead is alleged to have aided in the acquisition of heroin from Milwaukee that was given to 50 year old Sheila A. Behm of Waupaca, who died of a drug overdose in the Town of Farmington on March 26th. The bail jumping charges stem from bond conditions on drug charges in both Portage and Ozaukee Counties. Mead also has a narcotics possession conviction from 2011. If convicted on the current charges, he could face up to 55 years in prison. Mead is due back in court next Monday for a preliminary hearing.
