A New London man was seriously hurt when he was hit by a train in Appleton early Sunday morning. Police say the 21 year old man was lying on the tracks in the West Lawrence Street and South Locust Street area. The engineer on the train saw the man and applied the train’s brakes, but was not able to stop it before striking the man. He was taken to an Appleton hospital with what authorities called non-life threatening injuries. Police say they do believe alcohol was a factor in the incident.
