A new trial date has been set for this summer for a New London man charged with killing his neighbor nearly 9 years ago. 40 year old Chad Magolski was convicted of the crime by a jury in March of 2012, but 3 years later the 4th District Court of Appeals set aside the verdict, ruling that the introduction of Magolski’s conviction in a car dealership burglary 7 years earlier was prejudicial, and should not have been allowed at trial. The case revolves around the December 2007 death of 77 year old James Park, who lived in the downstair’s apartment in the same building the Magolski lived. He was found by his landlord with multiple stab wounds, and was missing his money clip, which witnesses said he always carried. The second trial in the case will begin July 18th. Magolski remains in the Waupaca County jail pending the trial.
