A Clintonville man will serve one year on probation following sentencing in Waupaca County Court in an explosion death case. 43 year old Kenneth M. Niemer entered no contest pleas to negligent handling of a weapon and disorderly conduct, both as a party to a crime, with the top count of homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon dismissed, but read in for sentencing. Niemer was one of four men involved in a pipe bomb explosion in the Town of DuPont in late May. The explosion sent shrapnel from the pipe into the torso of Paul Casperson of Illinois. He died from his injuries. Two other men, Robert and Scott Mattes, are both expected to enter pleas in court tomorrow.
