A New London man is being held on a 50-thousand dollar cash bond after being charged in a Town of Mukwa stabbing last month. 37 year old Jason W. Oertel is charged in Waupaca County Circuit Court with attempted first degree intentional homicide after allegedly stabbing another man twice on the evening of November 21st. The criminal complaint says the victim suffered life-threatening stab wounds to the abdomen and rib area, including is spleen. He was flown to ThedaCare– Neenah Hospital for treatment. The complaint says Oertel allegedly told patrons at a Northport tavern that he had just stabbed someone, even going so far as to pass the knife around. No one in the bar called authorities. Authorities say they have recovered the knife. If convicted, Oertel could face up to 60 years in prison. He is due back in court for a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
