A Wood County sheriff’s deputy was shot last night after responding to a call for a suicidal subject. The unnamed officer responded to the call in Arpin, about 10 miles southeast of Marshfield, around 8 pm, according to Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker. Becker says his officer was shot in the upper body/arm area, and was airlifted from the scene to Marshfield Medical Center. No information was released on the condition of the suicidal person, but the sheriff said there was no ongoing threat to the community. Officers from Wisconsin Rapids, Nekoosa, Marshfield, Pittsville, and Grand Rapids all responded to that situation last night.
