A semi driver is dead and two others injured following a three-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 10 on Waupaca’s west side. Waupaca Police say the semi was westbound just before 6 a.m. near the on-ramp from State Highway 54 when the driver lost control. The semi rolled onto its side, blocking both westbound lanes of traffic. Two pick-ups also traveling west were unable to stop in time, and crashed into the semi. The male semi driver, from the Appleton area, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two pick-up drivers were not injured. Highway 10 westbound was closed down for over four hours for clean-up of the crash, and for the State Patrol to do an accident reconstruction. Road conditions were slippery at the time of the crash. The victim’s name has not been released. It is the 8th traffic fatality in Waupaca County this year.
