Preliminary data from the DNR show the deer harvest is up from a year ago. Through the opening weekend, Wisconsin hunters killed 118,670 deer, compared to 105,200 last year. Of those this year, 65,400 were bucks. Waupaca County had the 2nd highest total for deer harvested, with 3952, compared to 3597 last year. Marathon County leads the state with just over 4100 deer taken. The gun-deer season runs through Sunday.
