A home in Waupaca suffered significant damage in a fire early this morning. Waupaca Fire Chief Jerry Deuman says crews were called to the blaze at 110 High Street shortly before 3 a.m. The fire was already established in the kitchen area of the home, and had vented itself into the roof on the north end of the structure. Crews were able to suppress the fire, and pulled down the ceilings in three rooms, and found the residence insulated with sawdust shavings. No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries. Crews from Weyauwega and Scandinavia assisted in putting out the fire. Deuman says it appears the fire started in the kitchen, but he says the cause remains under investigation.
