Students and staff at Weyauwega-Fremont schools will get to see members of the Green Bay Packers up close and personal today during a special assembly this afternoon. The district has been awarded a 10-thousand dollar grant from the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, in association with the Packers, for their “Fuel Up and Play 60” initiative. That’s a nation-wide program to promote healthy eating and physical activity, to help youth establish healthy behaviors. At Weyauwega-Fremont, the grant money will be used to purchase physical education equipment for both elementary schools, and the middle school. Packers Reggie Gilbert, DeShone Kizer, and others will present the check, and participate in a work-out with selected students and staff in the gym. The assembly begins at 1:15 this afternoon.
