An Oshkosh man suffered serious injuries when his plane crashed Friday night east of Harrington Road in the Town of Waupaca. According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, the plane went down in a cornfield around 11:20 p.m. A nearby resident called in to authorities, saying he thought a plane had crashed. 47 year old Andrei Biesinger was the pilot, and the only person in the aircraft. Police in Oshkosh say they were trying to arrest Biesinger around 9:30 at Wittman Regional Airport for alleged domestic abuse charges. They say he took off without getting clearance from the Wittman tower, and nearly hit a squad car in the process. After the plane crashed, Biesinger was taken by ambulance to the Waupaca Airport, then airlifted to ThedaCare Hospital in Neenah with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
